Planckh Viktor, painter and sculptor. * Troppau (Opava, Austrian Silesia), 26. 9. 1904; † Athens, June 10, 1941. Coming from an military family; studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna painting. His figurative compositions, portraits and landscapes stand out for their clarity and simplicity of painting; his work is characterized by the tendency for large-scale creations. On exhibitions of the Wiener Hagenbund, whose members he was in 1927-38, showed Planckh oil paintings, watercolors, gouaches and pen drawings, occasionally also sculptures in terracotta and bronze. Several exhibitions in the USA, 1935 in Philadelphia (Boyer Gallery) and New York (Weyhe Gallery).
