about the artist

Max Neubauer

* 1879 , Wien - † 1920

Maximilian Hermann Neubauer, topographer and painter. * Vienna, February 8, 1879; † Vienna, November 2, 1920. Studied at A. Schäffer's painting school (1896) and worked as a draftsman and watercolorist for postcards publishers and newspapers as well as for art shops, etc. Neubauer preferred subjects of Viennese cityscapes and events from the history of the city of Vienna. As a painter, the value of Neubauer's work lies in the naively faithful reproduction of topographic conditions that are otherwise not documented. The graphic collection of the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna owns numerous of his works
